And that was moving from HSBC to First Direct – two banks that are owned by the same group. Evidently, "seven" referred to working days and, crucially, applied only to the final leg of the journey. That excluded the time taken to open an account and pass identity checks (typically three days), and a delay before the switch could be initiated (10 days).
